Tech Bytes: Ultradata Taps Online Resources for Bill-Payment Support

Ultradata Corp., a provider of equipment for remote banking, signed an agreement to use bill payment services offered by Online Resources and Communications Corp.

The deal calls for Online Resources to provide back-end bill payment support for Ultradata's products.

Ultradata, based in Pleasanton, Calif., has offered voice response units since 1984 and recently expanded its remote-banking product line. The new products, dubbed Ultra-Access, support banking with personal computers through the Internet and private networks.

Online Resources, based in McLean, Va., offers home banking, bill payment, and Web site support for financial institutions. This year the company has agreed to provide bill payment services to Sterling Commerce Inc., a unit of Sterling Software, and to the Most and Co-Op automated teller machine networks. Online Resources also is working with America Online to process transactions for AOL's new banking center.
