BayView Buys Affinity Marketing Firm

BayView Financial Trading Group, which provides trading and valuation services for mortgage companies, has acquired John S. Hopkins Inc., Bethesda, Md. The purchase price was not announced.

Hopkins offers affinity marketing and whole-loan trading as well as services similar to BayView's. The combined companies will have 45 employees.

David Ertel, BayView's managing director, said the deal brought to his company an expanded sales staff and improved analytical tools. "By leveraging our technology and combining strengths, we can better assist clients of all sizes in managing risk and maximizing value."

John S. Hopkins Jr., chairman and chief executive of the Hopkins company, will remain as an adviser to BayView. The transaction does not include John S. Hopkins Capital Corp., which will continue as a separate company involved in mergers and acquisitions.
