Capital Briefs: Fed Lets Midwest Holding Company Consolidate

The Federal Reserve Board has given the owner of five banking companies in Kansas and Missouri permission to consolidate its operations in a single holding company.

Five Valley View Bancshares of Overland Park, Kan., will control Industrial Bancshares of Kansas City, Kan.; International Bancshares of Gladstone, Mo.; Mission Bancshares of Mission, Kansas; and One Security of Kansas City, Kan. The affiliated banking companies control $1.6 billion in assets and operate four banks in Kansas and one in Missouri.

The Fed rejected a Community Reinvestment Act protest filed by Concerned Clergy Coalition charging the banking company with ignoring low-income areas in Kansas City, Kan.
