Cummings, Citizens of R.I. Vice Chairman, Plans to Retire

Herbert W. Cummings, vice chairman of Citizens Financial Group Inc., has announced he will retire Dec. 31.

Mr. Cummings, 61, will continue to have an office at the Providence, R.I.-based holding company, and will remain a board member for its subsidiary banks. He is currently developing a transition plan for those who report to him.

Mr. Cummings, who joined Citizens Bank in 1969 as a division manager for New York and New England, also held positions in retail lending and marketing. He was an executive vice president of the holding company between 1981 and 1992, and president of its Rhode Island banks between 1985 and 1991.

Mr. Cummings had also been the chairman and chief executive of Citizens Bank of Massachusetts in 1992 and 1993.

Citizens Financial Group is a unit of the Royal Bank of Scotland.
