HSBC Economist Joining Money Manager

Lacy H. Hunt, chief economist at HSBC Markets, will join Hoisington Investment Management Co., Austin, Tex., as executive vice president, effective Oct. 14.

Formed in 1980, Hoisington currently has over $2.5 billion under management for pensions, endowments, and insurance companies. The firm also advises the Wasatch-Hoisington U.S. Treasury mutual fund.

Mr. Hunt will be succeeded at HSBC by Ian Shepardson, now chief United Kingdom economist for HSBC in London, also effective Oct. 14. HSBC is a unit of Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corp., whose main U.S. subsidiary is Marine Midland Banks.
