Card briefs: Wis. Bank Puts State Capitol on Its Cards

Capitol Bank, a de novo community bank with $10.3 million in assets, is marketing a credit card that features a photo of the Wisconsin Capitol building - a replica of the U.S. Capitol - taken when a spring display of tulips is in bloom. .

The Visa card comes with $15 annual fee, and a 13.9% variable rate, which will drop 13.65% in February. The bank, which opened its doors Oct. 9, began issuing the cards in November.

Capitol Bank is mailing applications to all the businesses in Madison that have Capitol in their name. In addition, it will send out card information to 20,000, including 250 shareholders, and bank customers.

Capitol Bank will add a gold version of the credit card this year. Also, it intends to offer Equifax's ScoreCard frequent-flier program so that cardholders can earn points to redeem mileage on major airlines.
