Tech bytes: Fitech Helping Smaller Banks Get on Internet

Fitech Inc. is offering a service that allows small to midsize banks to set up a site on the Internet.

The vendor's new PlusMark service is billed as an affordable way for smaller banks to establish a presence on the Internet and the World Wide Web, and even allow customers to access the bank through this medium.

This gives small banks an opportunity to build on their traditional position and exert an even stronger influence on their surrounding communities.

"Being on the Web is more than a 'home page,' when banks are resourcing the community as a sponsor of local Internet services, including leading commerce and education," said Robert Chamberlain, the president of Fitech and author of the new PlusMark service.

"The bank should strategically lead its community on the Web or their competitor will gain the advantage."
