Dime Savings Names Executive

Dime Savings Bank, the main New York subsidiary of Dime Bancorp, has hired Donald P. Schwartz as executive vice president and general manager of small business banking.

Until last year, Mr. Schwartz was senior vice president and division head of small business at National Westminster Bank, the New York-area retail operation of National Westminster Bank PLC, London. After Fleet Financial bought the operation, he became senior risk manager of Fleet operations in New York and New Jersey.

In addition, the bank promoted Christopher D. Maher to senior vice president of sales and service and director of insurance in its consumer banking division.

Mr. Maher had been vice president and director of sales and services. He joined Anchor Savings Bank, which last year merged with Dime, in 1990 as assistant treasurer and the branch manager at its branches in Ridgefield and Edgewater, N.J.
