In brief: Exam Council Advice Available by Phone, E-Mail

Bankers with questions about Community Reinvestment Act compliance have some new sources to turn to.

The Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council, which last month released a list of frequently asked questions about the rules, is making additional information available via the CRA Assistance Line and by electronic mail.

Callers can either transfer into the agency's fax-on-demand system or leave a message for an official for help answering various questions about the rules. The agency can be reached at (202) 872-7584 or via E-mail at crahelp frb.gov.

Also, Rapid Access Technology Applications Associates, a compliance software firm in Lake Mary, Fla., has released an updated CRA package.

RATA Associates' GeoPlus product allows banks to handle collect, analyze, and submit information under CRA and the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act. The product allows banks to retrieve demographic information and geocode maps to assist with reporting.
