In brief: OCC's Field Examiners to Use CRA Software

Compliance examiners at the Comptroller's office are getting some technological help.

The national bank regulators will be using CRA Wiz, a mapping software product from Boston-based PCI Services, in their fair-lending and Community Reinvestment Act examinations.

It will be used by 225 OCC compliance examiners in all six regions, and in the agency's multinational division.

"The OCC's decision to use CRA Wiz followed a rigorous and intensive evaluation," said James Daley, a principal at PCI Services. "We are proud of the recognition."

The Windows 95-compatible product, with geocoding, data base analysis, and mapping capabilities, will help examiners better study lending patterns by calling up maps showing the income status of banks' communities and where lending has occurred.

The OCC is the only regulator using the product. The agency paid $280,000 for the software and a five-year maintenance contract.
