NationsBank Picks Oklahoma Chief for After Boatmen's Deal

NationsBank Corp., Charlotte, N.C., has named Roger Whaley president of its Oklahoma operations in anticipation of the pending purchase with Boatmen's Bancshares, St. Louis.

Mr. Whaley, who will be based in Tulsa starting Jan. 1, is presently responsible for NationsBank's South Carolina consumer bank, its professional and executive banking, and specialized sales.

In 1971 he joined NationsBank in Columbia, S.C. as a management associate. In 1979 he was sent to Florence, S.C., where he later was promoted to senior vice president and city executive. Then he went to Charleston as a regional executive.

In 1986 Mr. Whaley returned to Columbia to manage the South Carolina consumer and commercial banks. In 1992, he was promoted to executive vice president, responsible for the NCNB and C&S/Sovran merger in South Carolina.
