In Brief: Green Tree Files For a $1B Offering

Green Tree Financial Corp. has filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission to sell $1 billion securities backed by consumers' retail installment contracts.

The St. Paul financial services company has $218.4 million of previously registered securities that remain unsold. As a result, the company would be able to sell as much as $1.21 billion of securities once the SEC cleared the latest registration statement.
