Ex-Banker to Lead IBM Group

International Business Machines Corp. has hired a former Chase Manhattan Corp. executive to oversee its North American financial services industry group.

Anette Kolenda-Pacioretty, former managing director of global emerging markets for Chase Securities Inc., has been named general manager for IBM's banking, finance, and securities industry solution group, the company announced Thursday.

"As our industry leader for North America, she will be able to capitalize on her experience and on her demonstrated leadership in growing profitable businesses in existing and evolving fields," said Robert M. Howe, worldwide general manager for IBM's banking, finance, and securities industry group.

Ms. Kolenda-Pacioretty will report to Mr. Howe.

IBM's finance group provides hardware and software, as well as technology consulting, to financial services companies. The group has significant experience in branch automation, automated teller machines, check processing, and document imaging.

Ms. Kolenda-Pacioretty will supervise the group's marketing and sales activities as well as its product development and deployment, operations, planning, and strategy.

Ms. Kolenda-Pacioretty began her career at BankAmerica Corp., where she worked as a retail systems analyst. She then moved to Manufacturers Hanover Securities Corp.
