Short Takes: New Essex Software Tracks Brokers' Sales

Essex Corp., a leading marketer of annuities through banks, has introduced a software package named Easis whose functions include tracking brokers' sales of insurance products and securities.

Banks often use such software to keep tabs on the productivity of their investment representatives.

The New York-based company said Easis also provides transaction processing for fixed and variable annuities, life insurance, mutual funds, stocks, bonds, and financial planning products.

Easis also consolidates customer statements and provides access to on- line services such as the full-range of financial services on the Internet.

Essex is offering the product in conjunction with Ameritrade Holding Corp., an Omaha-based company that provides technology for clearing services.
