Tech Bytes: EDI Meeting Renamed For Expanded Focus

The Treasury Management Association and the National Automated Clearing House Association have renamed their joint conference to reflect an expanded focus.

The conference formerly known as the Financial Electronic Data Interchange Conference next year will be called the Electronic Commerce Conference. The show is to be held in San Diego Jan. 26-29.

The new name is meant to reflect the growing importance of the Internet in on-line corporate banking applications.

"Electronic commerce will be an influential force changing the way treasury executives conduct business," said Donald E. Manger, president and chief executive officer of the TMA.

TMA is the trade association for private-sector treasury executives. Nacha is a nonprofit cooperative that helps 38 regional automated clearing house associations set rules for the national network.

The two groups had jointly sponsored the FEDI conference since 1993.
