Tech Bytes: NCR Licenses Software To an Irish Distributor

NCR Corp. announced it has licensed a new software product to Kindle Banking Systems, a Dublin-based software distribution company.

Kindle, an 18-year-old company that supplies computer equipment to 1,500 bank branches in 78 countries, features a branch automation product called Bankmaster. The product it has licensed from NCR - called Top End - is a software application that helps the main system operate more smoothly.

"Top End is an invisible infrastructure underneath the Bankmaster," said Reier Torgerson, the Top End product manager at NCR. "Top End provides the communications infrastructure between the various application components residing on multiple clients and multiple servers."

Kieran Nagle, chief executive officer of Kindle Banking Systems, said: "In retail banking, the growth in multiple delivery channels - along with the increasing demands placed by customers for 24-hour seamless banking - now make it essential to be able to integrate all of a bank's disparate systems into a single, cohesive one."
