Angelo A. Vigna, formerly Northeast regional director for the Office of Thrift Supervision, has joined Sandler O'Neill & Partners as a managing director.
Mr. Vigna, 54, will help the firm expand its practice in capital management, mutual-to-stock conversions, merger and acquisition advice, and takeover defense work.
"Angelo Vigna is a highly respected leader in the thrift industry," said Mark B. Cohen, a Sandler O'Neill principal, in announcing the appointment.
At the OTS, Mr. Vigna oversaw 280 institutions with combined assets of about $130 billion.
A banking regulator since 1964, Mr. Vigna has been a field examiner for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp., a district director of OTS, a senior vice president of the Federal Home Loan Bank of New York, and an acting director of the Federal Savings and Loan Insurance Corp.
