The Texas-based electronic banking network has increased its transaction volume every year since its inception in 1981.

The membership also grew last year, by 10%.

Pulse processed 137 million automated teller machine transactions in 1995. Growth was more significant in Pulse Pay, the point of sale service, which was up 63%, to 33 million transactions.

Some of the more than 7,000 merchants added to the program in 1995 included Target Stores, Shell Oil Co., HEB Grocery Stores, and Town & Country and King Soopers supermarkets.
