Mellon Bank Corp. has hired a former Citicorp executive to oversee high-yield investments for its Dreyfus Corp. mutual funds unit.

Roger E. King, joined the New York-based fund company March 5 as head of high-yield portfolio management in the taxable fixed-income group. Mr. King will report to Kevin M. McClintock, chief of taxable bond funds.

He is the latest in a string of new hires at Dreyfus in the past nine months.

The most senior appointment was made last November, when Christopher M. Condron became president of the mutual fund company.

Mr. King, director of high-yield research for Citicorp since 1995, joined the banking company in 1991. Previously, he worked as a high-yield analyst for UBS Securities, and the old Shearson Lehman Hutton.
