Capital Briefs: OCC to Fill New Job: Risk Evaluation Aide

The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency has created a new post: deputy comptroller for risk evaluation.

The new officer, who is expected to be hired by April 30, will identify emerging risks, develop supervisory actions to address those risks, and monitor the effectiveness of supervision.

The new deputy will report directly to Comptroller Eugene A. Ludwig and will be his principal adviser on the risks facing national banks. The officer also will be chairman of the agency's National Risk Committee, a group of senior OCC examiners and officials charged with identifying potential risks to the banking system.
