Card Briefs: Cybercash to Help Norwest Secure Virtual Mall

Norwest Card Services said it will use the Cybercash Secure Internet Payment Service for purchases made on-line at Norwest Plaza, a virtual shopping mall that can be accessed through the Internet.

Cybercash will provide encryption technology meant to secure credit card purchases at the virtual mall. The Reston, Va., firm markets its product, which operates with most popular web browsers, through bank and technology partners.

Norwest Plaza opened in November 1995. The bank will work with merchants to develop their "storefront" sites.

Norwest Plaza can be located on the World Wide Web via the Norwest Corp. home page (http://www.norwest.com), under Norwest Plaza.

Norwest Card Services serves 1.9 million MasterCard and Visa card holders and two million ATM and debit cardholders.
