Card Briefs: N.J. Transit Expands Debit Acceptance

The New Jersey Transit Corp. said it has expanded acceptance of debit cards at New York and New Jersey train and bus stations.

Among the cards accepted at 25 locations are Maestro, MasterCard's on- line point of sale debit card; Interlink, Visa's on-line deposit access card; and cards with the regional NYCE and MAC automated teller machine network marks.

Last April, New Jersey Transit conducted a debit card pilot at its Atlantic City Rail Terminal. Based on the success of the pilot, the program was expanded in September.

The carrier serves 316,500 passengers daily.
