Direct Marketer Expands Card Deal with Mobil

The Signature Group, a direct marketer providing a variety of consumer products and services to cardholders, signed a contract to manage fee-based services for Mobil Oil Credit Corp.'s proprietary credit cards.

The Schaumburg, Ill.-based subsidiary of Montgomery Ward has worked with Mobil since 1987, providing auto-, travel-, insurance-, and security- related products to cardholders.

The new contract, however, gives Signature complete control over Mobil's entire credit card add-ons - "managing the back-office functions and determining what offers to offer when and to whom," said a spokeswoman for Signature. The Signature Group's client includes banks, credit card companies, major retailer, and oil companies.
