Southern National Elevates 3 Senior Execs

Southern National Corp. said it had made three high-level promotions, including that of Henry G. Williamson Jr. to chief operating officer. Mr. Williamson, 48, had held that title at BB&T Financial Corp. until that company merged with Southern National last February.

Although the new holding company retained the Southern National name, the old BB&T organization has provided most of its top executives, including chairman and chief executive John A. Allison. At the same time as Mr. Williamson was promoted last week, Kelly S. King, 47, a BB&T consumer banker for 23 years, was elevated to president of the holding company.

One Southern National veteran promoted last week was its former chief administrative officer, Robert E. Greene, named president of the new company's principal operating subsidiary, Branch Banking and Trust Co.

While the Southern National name is used at the holding company level, all the bank's branches utilize BB&T signage.
