Capital Briefs: Senate Expected to Vote In Fed Nominees Today

The Federal Reserve Board should be up to full strength by today.

The Senate Banking Committee on Wednesday approved the nomination of Alan Greenspan to a third four-year term as the Fed's chairman.

And it also approved terms as Fed governors for Washington University professor Laurence Meyers and Alice M. Rivlin, director of the Office of Management and Budget.

An aide to Senate Banking Committee Chairman Alfonse D'Amato, R-N.Y., said the Senate was expected to confirm the nominations before leaving this evening for a two-week recess.
