In Brief: North Fork Closes Deals for Offices, Extebank

North Fork Bancorporation has completed its acquisitions of 10 First Nationwide Bank branches on Long Island, and the domestic commercial business of Extebank.

North Fork paid a deposit premium of 6.35% for the First Nationwide branches, which have deposits of $575 million. Extebank, the subsidiary of Madrid-based Banco Exterior de Espana, had $400 million in assets and six branches in Suffolk County, one in Nassau County, and one in Manhattan.

The dual acquisitions bring North Fork's franchise to 67 branches, with $4 billion in assets.
