Card Briefs: Plus Getting Its Kicks With Quiz on Route 66

Plus, Visa U.S.A.'s automated teller machine affiliate, launched a national contest late last month to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Mother Road - Route 66.

Three print advertisements will test consumers' knowledge of Route 66, which stretches from Chicago to Los Angeles. Each ad will ask readers to identify a different city along the highway. Clues, such as illustrations of landmarks, will help contestants solve the puzzle.

The grand prize is a vintage 1957 Ford Thunderbird convertible. The winner can also win an additional $10,000 in cash for using a Plus-branded ATM card out-of-state three times during the promotional period, until June 21

The ads will appear in USA Today, Newsweek, Time, Life, Discover and other publications and consumers can mail in an entry form with answers. Contestants can also play by visiting Visa's home page on the World Wide Web at http://www.visa.com. An "800" number will also take entries.
