Connect's Software Linked to Cybercash

Connect Inc., which designs software for doing business on the Internet, has integrated its technology with that of Cybercash Inc., a payment service provider.

The announcement, made last week, means that customers of Mountain View, Calif.-based Connect can bill clients on-line using Cybercash's secure payment system. Cybercash's headquarters are in Reston, Va.

The first of Connect's clients to take advantage of the new feature is Photodisc Online, a Seattle-based publisher of digital stock photography.

Businesses seeking photographs for corporate brochures and other needs can tap into the 20,000 images stored on Photodisc's World Wide Web site and pay for them through the Cybercash wallet system.

"It's a business-to-business application," said James W. Strohecker, communications director for Connect.

"With our software and Cybercash's front-end software, Photodisc's customers can license an image, pay for it right there, and use it for a project very quickly."

Photodisc also sells its images through CD-ROM, but the company has found that 70% of its new customers are coming through its Web site.
