Card briefs: Total System Says Net Up 33% in 4th Quarter

Total System Services Inc. reported a 33% increase in fourth-quarter earnings, to $9.5 million.

Earnings per share rose to 14.8 cents from 11.1 cents. Revenues rose 32%, to $71.1 million.

For all of 1995, the card processor increased earnings 23%, to $27.7 million, and revenues 33%, to $249.7 million.

"We exceeded our expectations and are very pleased with our performance for 1995," said Richard W. Ussery, chairman and chief executive officer of Total System, which is 80.8% owned by Synovus Financial Corp. of Columbus, Ga.

Mr. Ussery said 1996 priorities include installation of our new cardholder software, TS2, exploration of new products and services, improving productivity, and maintaining high quality in delivery of core services."
