Short Takes: Dreyfus Spokeswoman Joins Investment Bank

Dreyfus Corp.'s director of corporate communications has left the company to join a New York-based investment banking firm.

The executive, Diane Coffey, was also the co-manager of Third Century, a Dreyfus mutual fund for socially conscious investors. She was to begin work as chief administrative officer at Peter J. Solomon Co. on Wednesday, the firm confirmed.

Ms. Coffey could not be reached for comment.

Ms. Coffey worked at Dreyfus, a New York-based unit of Mellon Bank Corp., for six years. Before that, she had been chief of staff for the mayor of New York City, Edward I. Koch.

Ms. Coffey's assistant, Patrice Kozlowski, will take over her communications role. Eric Steedman, an analyst, reportedly will become co- manager for the Third Century portfolio.
