Workshop Series Leads Card Security Show

Cardtech/Securtech, the international card technology trade show that opens next Tuesday in Atlanta, will be preceded on Monday by four daylong workshops.

The sessions are titled: Introduction to Card and Identification Technology; Advanced Card Technology; Advanced Identification Technology; and the Changing Face of Money.

The last will cover developments such as digital cash and Internet payments and their legal and market implications. Speakers include Watts Wacker, a trend watcher from SRI International, Federal Reserve payment system expert Jeffrey Marquardt, and House Banking Committee staffer John Lopez.

All workshop groups will come together at lunch to hear a presentation by the noted privacy consultant and Columbia University law professor Alan F. Westin.

Cardtech/Securtech runs Tuesday through Thursday at the Inforum and Westin Peachtree Plaza Hotel, beginning with a keynote address by futurist Alvin Toffler.

The Rockville, Md.-based organizing company is anticipating total attendance of 6,000 and some 300 company exhibits.
