In Brief: Comparison-Shopping Service Set on Internet

A new service offered through Meyers Internet Services allows potential borrowers to compare rates from multiple lenders.

The information will come from direct links to mortgage companies' Internet home pages and from company faxes updated as rates change. The service will also offer the telephone numbers and street and e-mail addresses of participating lenders, and will provide advice for consumers.

Myers has also rolled out a service to match borrowers having less-than- perfect credit with lenders willing to lend to them.

The BCD National Mortgage Directory, which lists lenders that offer loans to consumers with B, C, and D credit, will be on the World Wide Web.

"A consumer with a strong credit rating will usually look for the best rates available, but people with less-than-perfect credit ratings are primarily seeking an affordable payment or the opportunity to consolidate their existing debts with a mortgage payment," said Warren Myer, chief executive of Myers Internet Services.
