PEOPLE IN THE NEWS: Knutson Mortgage Adds CEO to President's Title

Ray Warren Sims has been promoted to chief executive officer of Knutson Mortgage Corp.

Mr. Sims, formerly president and chief operating officer, will retain the first title.

Mr. Sims takes over from Glenn R. Wilson Jr., who retired as chief executive on April 30.

Mr. Wilson, who also was Knutson's chairman, will remain as vice chairman of Knutson's board of directors. He joined the company in 1988 as president. Michael D. Goldner has taken over as chairman of the board.

Mr. Sims joined Knutson in April 1995. He had been at GE Capital Mortgage Services Inc., as president of its Residential Express retail lending unit.

Knutson acquired Residential Express last October. The lender also bought retail branches from First Bank System Inc. in Colorado, Montana, and South Dakota, and recently opened New England lending operations.

Knutson services $10 billion of loans.

ATLANTA - Citizens Mortgage Corp. has hired two executives from First NH Mortgage Corp. - whose servicing portfolio it purchased last month - as senior vice presidents to run its New England mortgage business.

Debra S. Saitow, senior vice president, will run retail production in the region, and John J. Cappello, also senior vice president, will be in charge of wholesale lending.

Both had joined First NH in 1994 after working at Shawmut Mortgage Co. - Ms. Saitow as a vice president and Mr. Cappello as head of the wholesale division.

Ms. Saitow will be based in Massachusetts and report to John F. Karaszewski, president and chief operating officer. Mr. Cappello will work from Manchester, N.H., and report to Scott Cavanaugh, senior vice president.

CHICAGO - Two former Prudential Home Mortgage executives are joining Amerin Guaranty Corp., a mortgage insurance provider.

Roy J. Kasmar and Ronald D. Gaither will both begin working with Amerin later this month, according to a news release.

Mr. Kasmar will be executive vice president in charge of operations. Mr. Gaither will be a senior vice president. He will report to Mr. Kasmar, who will report to Stuart M. Brafman, president and chief operating officer.

At Prudential, Mr. Kasmar was head of secondary marketing and trading, and Mr. Gaither was in charge of credit policy and risk management. Earlier, Mr. Kasmar was chief operating officer at First Boston Capital Group, and Mr. Gaither managed Prudential's liquidity requirements.
