Mellon Bank Names Executive

Mellon Bank Corp., Pittsburgh, has elected John T. Chesko as vice chairman and chief risk officer.

He succeeded Keith P. Russell, who was named chairman of Mellon Financial Group-West Coast, Los Angeles, in March 1996.

Mr. Chesko, who remains as chief credit officer and head of credit policy, will be responsible for managing the holding company's credit approval, underwriting, and monitoring activities.

Earlier he was manager of the western region for Mellon's financial institutions department and vice president and manager of Mellon's middle- market loan production office in Dallas.

SOUTHWEST

Hibernia Corp., Baton Rouge, La., has promoted Scott A. Ridley to senior vice president and manager of the Baton Rouge small-business banking division.

Mr. Ridley was manager of Hibernia's West Bank trade area in the New Orleans market. He joined Hibernia in 1987.
