Crestar RaidsFirst Union for President of Maryland Office

Crestar Bank, Baltimore, has recruited First Union executive J. Scott Wilfong as president of its Maryland regional office.

Crestar Bank is a subsidiary of Richmond, Va.-based Crestar Financial Corp.

Mr. Wilfong will be responsible for consumer, commercial, and small business activities in Maryland. He starts his new job Monday, succeeding William A. Wycoff, who announced earlier that he would resign for family reasons.

Mr. Wilfong was senior vice president and commercial division manager for Maryland with First Union National Bank, Baltimore, a subsidiary of First Union Corp. He was executive vice president with First Fidelity Bank before First Union acquired it last year.

First Union promoted vice president Chris McComish to succeed Mr. Wilfong. The job is the same, managing relationships with businesses with at least $20 million in sales, but the title is different: senior vice president of corporate banking for Maryland.

Mr. McComish has been responsible for smaller businesses. Before moving to Baltimore last year was a vice president in corporate and commercial banking in Fayetteville, N.C.
