Florida Software Company Opens A London Office

Phoenix International Ltd., an Orlando-based software company, has opened a London office to market its client/server systems in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

Raju M. Shivdasani, president of Phoenix's international business division, said the company has a golden opportunity to reach "all those banks sitting out there with tired solutions."

Phoenix expects to capitalize on the "year 2000 problem" and the coming of the euro - the single European currency - to build business for its flexible client/server banking systems.

Stephen Overton, who formerly worked for Alltel Information Services and Fiserv Inc., will head the new office as regional sales director.

Impressed with "the caliber of the hire," analyst Robert V. Bolen said the overseas thrust should improve Phoenix's business.

"I would expect them to open additional offices over time," said Mr. Bolen, an information services analyst at J.C. Bradford & Co., Nashville.

The Phoenix Banking System is a comprehensive package encompassing customer management, loan and deposit processing, general ledger, financial reporting, and executive information management. The system has been installed in 27 organizations worldwide.
