Briefs: Harris Bankcorp Opening Peso Accounts

Harris Bankcorp is offering Mexican peso accounts for corporate customers.

Harris, the U.S. banking unit of Canada's Bank of Montreal, has been steadily building an infrastructure to handle business in Canada, the United States, and Mexico.

In March the $22 billion-asset bank announced it would offer cash management services to companies doing business in all three countries. Businesses use multicurrency accounts to collect payments, including royalty fees and receipts from trading partners, as well as for issuing payments to foreign suppliers.

Harris has also recently added Belgian francs, Dutch guilders, and South African rands to the list of currencies in which customers can keep accounts.
