Merchants Bank Names Executive

MIDDLE ATLANTIC

Merchants Bank of New York has promoted Stephen A. Barrow to executive vice president and chief credit officer, overseeing two corporate lending divisions.

Mr. Barrow had been senior vice president of the $1.14 billion-asset bank and head of its corporate lending division I.

Janet Markel succeeded Mr. Barrow. She had been a vice president and group manager.

Rosemarie Calabro was also promoted to senior vice president, of the bank operations division. She was a vice president.

Assistant vice presidents Chad E. Stewart and Thomas J. Stackhouse were promoted to vice president. Mr. Stewart works in corporate lending division II. Mr. Stackhouse became vice president of management information systems in the bank operations division, where he was assistant vice president of electronic data processing.

Assistant cashiers Orlando Acevedo and James T. Kung were promoted to assistant vice president. Mr. Acevedo works in the Canal Street branch and Mr. Kung in the Madison Avenue branch.
