Tech Bytes: Tech Company Adds Digital Certification

Security Dynamics Technologies Inc. said it is adding digital certification technology from Verisign Inc. to its Enterprise Security Services strategy.

Enterprise Security Services is a series of capabilities announced in February to enable corporations to protect data bases and safely promote electronic commerce.

The company will rely on Verisign as the certificate authority, or CA, in assuring secure access to messages, system application, and business-to- business transactions.

"With the combination of our strong authentication and encryption services and Verisign's industry-leading CA technology, we will provide customers with world-class security solutions that can be deployed with confidence," said Security Dynamics chairman, president, and chief executive officer Charles Stuckey.

Security Dynamics is the parent of RSA Data Security Inc., a leader in data encryption technology, whose pioneering with digital certification in the 1980s led to the creation of Verisign. With backing from RSA and other companies, Mountain View, Calif.-based Verisign was spun off as an independent venture two years ago.
