In Brief: French Bank Hires Syndications Head

Societe Generale last week snared a Citicorp veteran to head its new loan syndications effort in the United States.

Robert E. Woods, 49, joined the French bank as managing director and head of syndications for the Americas. Most recently a managing director and head of real estate capital markets at Citicorp, he ran the bank's syndications business from 1985 to 1990, when it routinely topped the investment and noninvestment-grade league tables.

In March, Societe Generale tried to hire Keith Barnish, senior managing director and head of syndications at top-ranked BankAmerica Corp., to lead its nascent U.S. loan shop. Mr. Barnish resigned from BankAmerica to take the job but rejoined BankAmerica days later.
