Card Briefs: Amex Ties with Italian Post Office, Turkish Bank

American Express Co. expanded its international reach in two recent deals: one with the Italian Post Office and one with Akbank, Turkey's largest privately owned bank.

The Italian Post Office agreed to sell American Express cards through its 15,000 branches. The post office, which is the largest savings and payment system in Italy, receives a commission for each new customer it brings to American Express.

Turkish consumers can now get American Express cards through Akbank. A new product called American Express Kredi Kart is available through the bank's 495 branches. Billing and payments are in the local currency.
