Tech Bytes: Querisoft Privacy Software Uses Microsoft Spec

Querisoft Inc. announced general availability of SecureFile 1.0, a privacy and security program built to the specifications of Microsoft Corp.'s CryptoAPI.

The product is designed to fit seamlessly into Windows-based software and with simple commands encrypt or digitally sign financial, legal, or other sensitive documents.

"Information security products have traditionally been extremely complex and pricey," said Amir Hudda, Querisoft chief executive officer. "Our goal was to change that."

Having integrated SecureFile with Digital IDs from Verisign Inc., Trust Information Systems' RecoverKey system for reconstructing encrypted files, and Spyrus Lynkscq cryptogragraphic security tokens, Querisoft "provides customers with the widest choice of hardware and software solutions for protecting information," Mr. Hudda said.

An international version of SecureFile for Windows 95 and Windows NT costs $39.95. A North American version with 128-bit encryption for Windows NT costs $49.95, and a Windows 95 version will be available shortly.
