In Brief: ABA Honors 13 Education Efforts

The American Bankers Association Education Foundation has honored 11 banks and two bankers with its 1997 Award for Outstanding Contributions to Consumer Education.

The awards are given each year to honor efforts by banks and bankers to educate their communities about banking and personal finance, according to a release.

The banker winners are Denise Abner, assistant cashier at Union National Bank and Trust in Barbourville, Ky., and Kimberly Machado, personal banking representative at Norwest Bank in Grand Junction, Colo.

The winning banks are First Regional Bank, Los Angeles; First National Bank of Manchester (Ky.); Beverly (Mass.) National Bank; Farmers State Bank, Elgin, N.D.; First Bank and Trust Co., Duncan, Okla.; BankWest, Pierre, S.D.; First Commerce Bank, Logan, Utah; Community National Bank, Derby, Vt.; Union Bank, Morrisville, Vt.; Associated Bank Green Bay (Wis.); and Port Washington (Wis.)
