Russell E. Hogg, a former MasterCard International president, has been elected chairman of the board of Micrografx Inc., a leader in the graphics software business.
Mr. Hogg s experience in technology and multinational marketing-he also was a senior international executive at American Express Co.-was attractive to Micrografx, said Bob Miller, a board member and chairman of its search committee.
Mr. Hogg was responsible for significant growth of (MasterCard) when technology was a key component, Mr. Miller said. His experience and (Micrografx president) Doug Richard s vision are a perfect combination.
Since his 10-year MasterCard tenure ended in 1989, Mr. Hogg has served as a consultant to the Blue Cross/Blue Shield board and to a National Academy of Sciences subcommittee evaluating Internal Revenue Service modernization.
At Micrografx he replaced Joe Kupke, who had been interim chairman since December.
