Ferrell Capital Names Executive

Ferrell Capital Management, an independent risk management firm in Greenwich, Conn., has hired J. Richard Zecher to head its investment management business. He joins William G. Ferrell and S. Waite Rawls 3d as senior partners.

Mr. Zecher will be the chief investment officer and will develop the use of technology to manage investments for institutions.

He had been president and chief executive of UBS Asset Management Inc., the New York-based money management arm of Union Bank of Switzerland. His role was in international marketing with Japanese, Latin American, and Middle Eastern clients.

Mr. Zecher was president of Chase Investors Management Corp. from 1988 until UBS acquired that firm in 1991. He is on the board of Bellingham Capital Management, a firm he helped found. Before starting Bellingham he was treasurer, chief economist, and head of global risk management at Chase Manhattan Bank. Earlier, he was director of policy research at the Securities and Exchange Commission for two years.
