Card Briefs: Pulse ATM Network Says Volume Rose 20%

The Pulse EFT Association said it processed more than 200 million transactions during 1996, which was a 20% increase over last year.

The network's membership grew by nearly 10% to 1,700 bank members.

Debit transactions at the point of sale represented a significant part of the year's growth, the network said. The company switched 54 million point of sale transactions, a 64% increase over 1995. Nearly 30,000 merchants now participate in Pulse Pay, the company's on-line debit network.
