Banc One to Bring All Its ATMs in Illinois Onto the Cash Station

All Banc One Corp.'s automated teller machines in Illinois will soon operate within the Cash Station network.

The move, announced this month, ends the banking company's arrangement in Illinois with Magic Line Inc., the Dearborn, Mich., network. All Banc One cardholders in the state will soon carry Cash Station cards.

Meanwhile, 52 Bank One Illinois ATMs downstate will connect to Chicago- based Cash Station by yearend. The bank's 41 ATMs in northern Illinois are already in the network.

"We feel it prudent to standardize our Illinois network participation under the Cash Station brand and enjoy access to all Illinois ATMs through one technical link," said Bill Weinmann, Banc One's Midwest region convenience banking manager.

Banc One's subsidiaries straddle several regional networks. The company is an equity owner of Electronic Payment Services Inc. in Wilmington, Del., which operates MAC, one of the largest ATM networks.

Banc One is the fifth-largest ATM deployer in the country. And it has ambitious plans to get larger. In July it said it would install 820 machines at Sears, Roebuck and Co. stores.

"We are enthusiastic about this opportunity to solidify our partnership with Banc One and expect that it will grow, particularly in light of its aggressive ATM deployment plans," said Stephen S. Cole, president and chief executive officer of Cash Station Inc.
