Chase Hires McDonnell Douglas Exec to Run Corporate Marketing and

Chase Manhattan Corp. said Wednesday that it has hired Frederick W. Hill as executive vice president and director of corporate marketing and communications.

He succeeded A. Wright Elliott, who will retire at the end of the month, after 13 years in the job.

Mr. Hill had been senior vice president of communications and community relations at McDonnell Douglas Corp., St. Louis., since 1995. Earlier he was senior corporate relations executive for Westinghouse Electric Corp., which he joined in 1980 as an attorney for its government affairs division.

He has a BA and a law degree from the University of Pittsburgh.

His duties at Chase include internal communications, media relations, corporate marketing and advertising, brand management, sports and cultural affairs marketing, creative services, and the Chase art program.

Mr. Hill will be a member of the policy council, which is Chase's senior policymaking body, and will report to Walter V. Shipley, chairman and chief executive officer.
