Valicert Hires Venture Capitalist as CEO

Valicert Inc., a company founded in early 1996 to offer systems that validate and prevent misuse of digital certificates, has appointed Joseph "Yosi" Amram president and chief executive officer.

Mr. Amram, 40, founded and served as chairman and CEO of Individual Inc., an eight-year-old company that pioneered distribution of customized electronic information. He left in 1996 to join Draper Fisher Juvetson, a Silicon Valley venture capital firm.

He said his work with Individual, focused on publishing and distribution of information, "the primary driver for the use of Internet technologies."

Valicert's focus, commerce, "is the next frontier and in the future will dwarf the opportunities in publishing," he said.

Chini Krishnan, Valicert's founder, chairman, and chief technology officer, said Mr. Amram's experience "will be invaluable as we begin to establish Valicert's technology, products, and services as the standard for managing and assuring the validity of digital certificates in secure communications and electronic commerce."
