Tech Bytes: Nova and Harbinginger Team Up on Net Support

Nova Information Systems Inc., a leading credit card processor for merchants, said it is collaborating to sell Internet support services with Harbinger Corp.

With a product called Nova Webway, Nova is offering small- to medium- size merchants the opportunity to build World Wide Web sites for Internet commerce. It said it can put up a site complete with a 99-page catalogue in less than 60 minutes.

The Web site would be created and maintained by the merchant, with fulfillment, maintenance, and other support managed by Nova and Harbinger, which are both Atlanta-based.

An additional technology alliance with Cybercash Inc. will allow for a well-rounded, secure on-line ordering and payment system, Nova said.

Nova chose Harbinger, a leader in electronic commerce software, "because the core functionality is there, and we were already working with Harbinger to build functionality specific to our needs," said Nova chief executive officer Edward Grzedzinski.

Nova will make Webway available to its more than 90,000 merchant clients. Harbinger said it has "more than 43,000 active revenue-generating customers."
